Havaalani Olive Oil from Turkey

Ayvalik, a seaside region on Turkey’s Aegean coast, is renowned for its olives—so much so that this olive oil is made exclusively from the region’s eponymous olives. Hand-picked Ayvalik olives are pressed within a few hours for a smooth, buttery extra virgin olive oil that is typical of the light, lovely coastal flavors we associate with our old standby Roi olive oil from the Italian Riviera.

The flavors here are gently green and grassy with light vegetal notes and a mild bitterness. Balanced and approachable, a drizzle of this oil will liven up almost any dish without being overpowering. Especially excellent with fish.
