Dried Montmorency Cherries from Michigan

When it’s summertime in northern Michigan, aka “The Cherry Capital of the World,” cherries are everywhere—piled into bushels, baked into pies, even made into wine. The rest of the year we’re thrilled to savor the summer flavor with these dried cherries from third generation family owned Friske Farm in Charlevoix.

Tart Montmorency cherries are dried with a little bit of sunflower oil and sugar to balance the natural sour flavor. Where many over-dry their cherries which can make them as tough as old gummy bears, these are left plump and soft, tender and terrific. The flavor is spot on dark cherry sweet without a hint of bitterness.
