Swedish Gingersnap Cookies

I love traditions in all shapes and sizes and I’ve trained my kids to be traditionalists—at least as far as food is concerned. It’s taken me a few years, but I’ve got the whole family trained on what a gingersnap should be: thin, crisp in an audibly crunchy way, and it’s gotta kick you with spice…but not too much.

These gingersnaps from Nyakers in Sweden are exactly what I’m talking about and everything my family loves. They’re not too sweet which is good because it lets the cinnamon and cloves and ginger come through and linger loooooong in the finish.

Each snap sings and hums with the flavors of the season so I’m gonna call it right now: this tradition is here to stay.
